Thanks for some of you arguing out the commandments. It's still open for arguments, so feel free to list anything there.

I hope you've all been trying to apply these ideas in real life. List any reactions or problems you came across here.

OK, call me a big girl's upper-body garment if you will but "commandments" seems a tad too close to that bearded hippie staggering down from Mount Whateveritwas carrying tablets of stone.

How about "The Seven Splendid Suggestions" instead?

Sporkism seems to be a self-service inclusive way of living with provision for free thinking, the value of the guidelines should be self-evident rather than enforcements from on high.

May we add an eighth "suggestion"? Given the effect the last couple of days of warmth have had on fair-weather cyclists I'd like to see something along the lines of:

"Remember - lycra covers a multitude of sins, but not nearly well enough for public consumption. Take a bus..."

I like the sound of "7 things you should think about". Nice and simple. Non-aggressive too.

The eighth suggestion would be pointless, as if enough people follow the other 7, they would automatically act politely towards environmental issues.

What were the reactions in your home/workplace, gazelle?

Home's easy, the philosophy's largely in place already. Do no harm, do good if you can and every once in a while check that you can still attain sobriety without recourse to professional clinics.

At work? Well, I work with thirteen people. Nine pretty much already follow the common-sense "rule" suggestions spontaneously, two try hard but are congenitally unpleasant and two more are just, well... dead I suppose you'd have to call it (no evidence of active thought and/or free will).

T-shirts or bumper-stickers?

Nay! Spork must not become cheesy. I suppose they'll just have to find their own way. Eventually, they will do so, I suppose. Give them the link if it helps. Then, they'll probably pass it on to their families, etc.

The point is to covet appropriately. If you covet all you want, it will do you no good, and you won't get anywhere anyway.
